SRL: Patent Application - Lithium-Ion Battery Cathode Innovation

SUNRISE ENERGY METALS LIMITED

• A patent application has been filed for a unique elemental composition of a lithium-ion battery (LiB) developed by Sunrise that increases the battery cycle life of NMC 811 cells by 45% to 94% compared to standard industry formulation.
• The innovation uses nickel and cobalt sulphates generated in-house, which when used in the battery's cathode has shown to significantly reduce cell costs as well as the life cycle cost of electric vehicles.
• The results from Queensland University of Technology (QUT) study showed that the Sunrise cells maintain 90% capacity even after 200 cycles, considerably outperforming control cells.

1. The Company continues to progress discussions with potential equity funding and offtake partners for the Sunrise Project.
2. Award by the Department of Regional NSW of a $500,000 grant towards the Sunrise Project Oversize Transportation Corridor Study.
3. Conditional approval by the Department of Regional NSW of the Company’s application for a further $10 million grant to support the development of the Sunrise Project electrical transmission line (ETL).
